Asia e University (AeU) Announces Two Academic Fellowships to Foster Regional Collaboration

Asia e University (AeU), in collaboration with the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL), is proud to announce two distinct fellowship programs designed to enhance academic mobility, strengthen research capabilities, and promote cross-border collaboration within the region: the AeU-ASAIHL Young Academic Fellowship (AAYAF) and the AeU-ASAIHL Postgraduate Fellowship (AAPF).

These initiatives underscore AeU’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and regional development by providing unique opportunities for scholars and researchers from ASAIHL member institutions.

AeU-ASAIHL Young Academic Fellowship (AAYAF)

The AAYAF is an academic mobility program for young academics under 40 years of age, who are full-time employed academic staff members from ASAIHL member institutions. This fellowship supports visiting lecturers at AeU for a duration ranging from a minimum of 2 weeks to a maximum of 8 weeks, with the exact period mutually agreed upon by the Fellow’s home institution and AeU.

AeU will provide comprehensive support for AAYAF Fellows, including a return economy-class air ticket, accommodation in a 3-star hotel or equivalent, and local transportation or a reasonable allowance, with a total value of RM7500. Fellows will continue to receive their regular salary from their home institution. A maximum of two AAYAF fellowships will be awarded annually. Responsibilities include delivering lectures, workshops, or academic activities aligned with AeU’s needs, engaging in academic networking, and submitting a brief report at the fellowship’s conclusion.

AeU-ASAIHL Postgraduate Fellowship (AAPF)

The AAPF is a short-term research residency program specifically for PhD-level researchers currently enrolled in a PhD program at an ASAIHL member institution. The residency duration is between 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the research project’s scope.

Each AAPF fellowship is valued at RM7,000, covering accommodation, local transportation, and basic living expenses in Malaysia. AeU will also cover return economy-class airfare. Fellows will continue to receive their regular salary from their home institution. Up to three fellowships will be awarded annually. Supported research areas include Artificial Intelligence, Microcredentials, Teacher Training using New Pedagogies, Chatbots, and Adaptive LMS. Fellows are required to submit a brief research progress or completion report at the end of their residency.

For both fellowships, AeU will facilitate affordable medical care during the Fellow’s stay. Interested applicants for either fellowship should first discuss the opportunity with their institution and obtain internal approval. They should then contact the ASAIHL Malaysia Secretariat or AeU to initiate a formal agreement before submitting their application form and supporting documents.
